Since 1962 the club has been based on their ground adjacent to the Lowcliffe Hall and School. Once manned entirely by the rural population, the personnel have slowly changed to a wider based membership. Presently our players come from a spread of professional people, tradesmen, students and rural workers, with ages ranging from teenage to the more mature.

Our teams have always been a harmonious bunch whose aim is to play the game seriously with competition winning as the goal. We try to accept defeat graciously and victory humbly.

In company with most local clubs, maintaining player numbers is a problem. We would welcome new players and try to involve them in a club that is financially sound and is controlled by a dedicated administration. We believe our subscription of $60 per annum for senior players is very competitive.

Since the local competitions are mostly based on a home and away basis, the chance to play at about nine different venues, urban and rural, adds to the interest.

The club currently enters one team in the senior grade competition and two junior team in the 5th Grade competition on Saturday mornings and one team in the 4th Grade on Saturday afternoons. The annual Past V’s Present game is held during the bye weekend and the club opening day held on the Sunday prior to the start of cricket.

PWL METHVEN CRICKET CLUB

This Mid Canterbury Cricket Club 20 minutes inland from Ashburton and a 70 minute drive southwest of Christchurch is a proud Country Cricket Club now in its 108th season.

The Club facilities and main playing area is at the Methven Domain where it shares clubrooms with the Methven Rugby Club. At the Domain the club has two Practice Net wickets (with artificial surface and bowling ends) plus a main grass wicket with enough width for 4 wickets and in 2004 an artificial wicket was installed which is of sufficient quality for Senior Club and representative fixtures.

The Club also part owns the Mt Hutt College artificial wicket at Mt Hutt College front field. In 1997 the Club celebrated its Centenary with Sir Richard Hadlee as guest speaker at the Centennial dinner. The Club is very fortunate each season to have Philip Wareing Transport Ltd as its major sponsor (PWL).

COLLEGIATE CRICKET CLUB

Collegiate Cricket Club was started in the 1998/99 season with the amalgamation of the Collegiate Rugby Club and the Tekau Cricket club. Since then we have won the Pritchard Shield three times, the Studholme twice and been finalists three times in the Muirhead Rosebowl. We also have a very successfull 4th grade side which have won their competition for the last two years. We also have a number of players in the Ashburton College 1st XI. Our home ground is situated beside the hockey turf on the domain off Walnut Avenue and our clubrooms are based at the Collegiate North Rugby grounds on Smithfield Road.

Our club always tries to involve all players and families throughout the year with bbq's, quizzes and poker nights. We also offer rugby, netball and hockey sections and a gym.
