3rd grade; Year 9 – 13

Ø      The match shall be limited to a total of 80 overs.

Ø      No bowler may bowl more than 8 of the allocated 40 overs, or in a restricted match more than one-fifth (1/5) of the allocated overs. No seam bowler may bowl more than 5 overs per spell.

Ø      Teams must declare its first innings closed when 40 overs are completed unless they are All-out sooner.

Ø      Each team may bat a second time provided the 80 overs for the match is not exceeded

Ø      The Follow-on is provided in Law 13. If the side batting first has a lead of more than the scheduled runs he has the option of instructing his opponents to follow-on their innings: In the MCCA 3rd grade the lead must be 75 runs or more for a follow-on to be effected.

Ø      When batting, all players must wear an approved helmet.

Ø      When standing up close to the wicket, wicket-keepers must wear a helmet

Ø      Wides and no balls constitute one extra run and the delivery is to be bowled again, but the bowler may not bowl more than 8 deliveries in an over (including the wides and no balls).

Ø      Points

Win – 6pts

Tie – 3pts

Loss – 0 pts

Abandoned – 3pts

 

 

4th grade; Year 7 & 8 recommended and exempted year 9 players

Ø      Matches 40 overs per side

Ø      Straight win/lose (no draws)

Ø      No bowler may bowl more than 8 of the allocated 40 overs, or in a restricted match more than one-fifth (1/5) of the allocated overs. No seam bowler may bowl more than 4 overs per spell.

Ø      When batting, all players must wear an approved helmet.

Ø      When standing up close to the wicket, wicket-keepers must wear a helmet

Ø      Please refer to the safety codes and other policies listed on the MCCA website.

Ø      Wides and no balls constitute one extra run and the delivery is to be bowled again, but the bowler may not bowl more than 8 deliveries in an over (including the wides and no balls).

Win – 6pts

Tie – 3pts

Loss – 0 pts

Abandoned – 3pts

 

5th grade; Year 5 & 6 recommended

Ø      The hours of play shall be 9am to 11.30am.

Ø      The competition is based on 8-a-side; 24 overs per team.

Ø      Batters bat in pairs for 6 overs.

Ø      All players must bowl 3 overs each.

Ø      Wicket-keepers may take turns. They must wear a helmet.

Ø      Teams start on 200 runs and lose 6 runs for every wicket lost.

Ø      Runs scored as normal

Ø      Wides and no balls constitute two extra runs and will not be re-bowled

Ø      Pitch length is a maximum of 18 metres

Ø      Points

Win – 4pts

Draw – 2pts

Loss – 0pts

Abandoned – 2pts

Ø      The aim of this grade is to encourage participation and give each player a fair chance to play and enjoy the game. Common sense should prevail at all times, this is not a World Cup! Should you have greater than or less than 8 players you must ensure that each pair gets to bat for an equal number of overs. Eg. 6 players = 8 overs per pair; 10 players = 5 overs per pair, 1 pair 4 overs; 12 players = 4 overs per pair.

 

 

 

6th grade; Year 4 & 5 recommended (or any player moving up from Milo Kiwi)

Ø      The hours of play shall be 9am to 11.30am.

Ø      The competition is based on 8-a-side; 20 overs per team.

Ø      Batters bat in pairs for 5 overs.

Ø      4 players bowl 2 overs each the remaining 4 players bowl 3 overs each.

Ø      Wicket-keepers may take turns. They must wear a helmet.

Ø      Teams start on 200 runs and lose 6 runs for every wicket lost.

Ø      Runs scored as normal

Ø      Wides and no balls constitute two extra runs and will not be re-bowled

Ø      Pitch length is a maximum of 16 metres

Ø      Points

Win – 4pts

Draw – 2pts

Loss – 0pts

Abandoned – 2pts

Ø      The aim of this grade is to encourage participation and give each player a fair chance to play and enjoy the game. Common sense should prevail at all times, this is not a World Cup! Should you have greater than or less than 8 players you must ensure that each pair gets to bat for an equal number of overs. Eg. 6 players = 6 overs per pair; 10 players = 4 overs per pair; 12 players = 3 overs per pair, 2 pairs bat for 4 overs.
